Each stage has a different brick arrangement. Clear the board to continue, carrying your remaining lives onward. Retry restarts the current stage with three lives and its starting score. After the fifth stage, start a new run. A saved stage checkpoint does not preserve a ball in mid-flight.
Watch where the ball will cross paddle height, rather than following its position at the top of the board. Side-wall bounces can change that crossing quickly, so keep enough room to adjust.
Different contact points change the return angle. A controlled angled return can reach a side pocket; a centred return is easier to read. Opening a gap through the bricks can let the ball work above the remaining row.
Atari describes Breakout as retaining Pong’s paddle-and-ball mechanics while changing the target. Brick Break follows that single-player idea with five compact stages and jungle materials. Its chain feedback celebrates a run of hits without changing the ten-point brick value.
