Canopy Tower

Getting your game ready…

How to play

Turn the tower, not the seed

The golden seed only bounces straight up and down. Drag left or right on the tower, or hold the left and right arrow keys, to turn the whole tower underneath it. On a phone you can also drag along the wooden strip under the board to keep your thumb off the view. When a gap turns under the seed, it drops to the floor below. P pauses.

Leaves, thorns and the smash

Green leaf floors are safe to bounce on. Red segments carry thorns, and landing on one ends the run. Each fall pays more for every floor it passes: the first floor is worth 1 point, the second 2, the third 3. Drop through three floors in one go and the seed starts to glow; its next landing smashes that whole floor, thorns and all, for double points.

Strategy

Turn while the seed is high

The seed only touches a floor at the bottom of each bounce. You can sweep a thorn under it safely while it is in the air, as long as leaf or a gap is under it when it comes back down. Quick turns just after a bounce are safer than one long slow sweep.

Look down before you drop

Before you let the seed fall, check the floors below. When their gaps nearly line up, a small nudge during the fall can carry you through three floors for a glowing smash. Deeper layers of the canopy bring more thorns and narrower gaps, so a smash is often the cleanest way through a crowded floor.

About the game

A helix in the canopy

Canopy Tower follows the drop-through-a-spinning-tower idea popularised by Helix Jump, made by H8 Games and published by Voodoo. Here the tower is a jungle trunk ringed with leaf floors, and every run is built fresh: the top floors are wide open, and each layer further down, from the Sunlit canopy to the Deep roots, adds more thorns and tighter gaps.
