Jungle Crossing

Getting your game ready…

How to play

Hop one tile at a time

Tap anywhere above the frog, swipe up or press the Up arrow to hop forward one row. Tap beside the frog or swipe sideways to step left or right, and swipe down or press Down to back up. W, A, S and D work too. Your first hop starts the run, and every new row you reach is a point. P pauses.

Read each kind of lane

Grass is safe, but trees and rocks block your hop. Traffic keeps to its lane at its own speed, so wait at the roadside for a gap. In a river you must land on a log or lily pad; logs carry you sideways, and riding one off the edge of the board ends the run. When a railway signal flashes and dings, a fast train is about a second away.

Strategy

Do not linger

A jaguar prowls up from behind, and the undergrowth at the bottom of the board shows how close it is. A short pause for a gap is fine, but a long one lets it catch you, and hopping backwards brings you nearer. It gets a little quicker the further you travel, so keep a steady rhythm.

Mangos are worth a detour

Each mango adds five points to the rows you have crossed. Mangos on logs ride along with them, and road mangos sit right in the traffic, so wait for a clear moment rather than lunging. Your furthest crossing is marked with a rope of flags; passing it is a new best distance.

About the game

Endless lane hopping

Jungle Crossing follows the road-and-river crossing idea that Konami’s Frogger made famous in 1981, played the endless way Hipster Whale’s Crossy Road popularised in 2014. The jungle, the frog, the jaguar and the mango scoring are our own. Each run lays out a fresh route, and the roads get busier and the rivers wider the further you go.
