Ring Grove

Getting your game ready…

How to play

Move the rings to their post

Transfer the whole stack from the first post to the marked destination. Select a post, then another to move its exposed top ring. Three posts give you one spare place to rearrange the stack. Choose between three and six rings.

Keep the sizes in order

Move only one ring at a time. A larger ring cannot rest on a smaller one, and a buried ring cannot move until the rings above it have left. Colours help you follow the pieces, but their diameters determine which placements are legal.

Try the same stack again

Your move count records completed transfers. Undo restores the previous placement; Restart puts the selected number of rings back on the first post. Finish with the entire ordered stack on the destination. There is no timer, so plan the next few transfers at your own pace.

Strategy

Free one large ring

Before moving a large ring, bring every smaller ring together on the spare post. That opens the destination for the large ring. Then rebuild the smaller stack above it, using the newly empty post as your spare space.

Think in smaller stacks

A six-ring problem contains the same task as a five-ring one: move the smaller stack away, move the largest ring, then bring the smaller stack back. Keep the destination in view so a tidy stack does not end up on the wrong post.

About the game

Three posts, changing roles

Ring Grove presents the ordered-transfer puzzle with graduated wooden rings. Start, spare and destination describe a post’s role while smaller stacks move; the goal stays the marked final post. Ring choice, completion and best move counts are remembered; unfinished stacks are not.
